[19:27] * Captain_Vittles is now known as GM_Vittles
[19:27] ...gah.
[19:27] I was scrolled up three pages.
[19:27] * Gullwhacker is now known as Zowar
[19:28] Testing the tracker...
[19:28] The initiative order is:
[19:28] Rasputin:13 Zowar:13 Hal:12 Christopher:12 Misato:12 Mogel:8
[19:28] (I think we've got plenty of healing to go around....)
[19:28] Man, you guys have low SPD
[19:28] * Sehkmet is now known as Misato
[19:28] (Tell me about it. Next stop, Ninja Gauntlets!)
[19:28] * Typhoon has joined #generica
[19:28] (Hi Ty.)
[19:29] ('Ey.)
[19:29] * GM_Vittles pokes Rob
[19:29] (Holy moses -- I don't think I've ever been first.)
[19:30] ((You're second fastest in this group))
[19:30] (Who's fastest?)
[19:30] (I know I'm hella slow.)
[19:31] ((Hal))
[19:31] * Igtenos is now known as Rasputin
[19:31] (I've got a 9... I don't know if that's fast or slow.)
[19:31] (bloody hell)
[19:31] (all of you have 8 or less SPD?)
[19:31] (I've got a rip-roaring 6.)
[19:31] (9 is good.)
[19:31] (7)
[19:32] ((OK, here we go))
[19:32] The morning fog was heavy among the Guild's private docks. Your party can hardly see around the next corner or stack of crates. The quiet this morning tells of the lack of trade recently - no ships loading or unloading. For those with their finger on the economic pulse, it's a rather bleak omen. But when the world is at its bleakest, the Guild is at its finest.
[19:32] (8 is above average, 7 is average, 6 is below average. At least, that's my guess.)
[19:32] (6 here.)
[19:32] * Zowar . o O (I walk with a staff at Speed 5.)
[19:32] ((Stabitha has 11))
[19:32] Your party is searching the docks for warehouse 19, home of the Guild's legendary Research and Development department. It's here where the finest in arms and armor are developed, as well as new spells, inventions, potions and who-knows-what else. You also have no idea why they want you at this hour of the morning.
[19:33] ( Not crash test dummies, I hope )
[19:33] (Or target practice.)
[19:33] * Rasputin looks visably exited, seeing how he's never been at the guild's R&D department before.
[19:34] * Mogel waves to Hal. "Long time, no see!"
[19:34] (Hal would like to be target practice... he needs more blue magic)
[19:34] * Zowar walks slowly and calmly. Read an interesting treatise on philosophy earlier, and still pondering its propositions...
[19:34] * Misato pointedly does not look at the water, instead weaving her way around the crates with her gaze fixed straight ahead, looking about curiously.
[19:35] Hello Moogle... where have I met you before?
[19:35] * EK|Christopher looks up at the sky, yawning and stretching, trying to wake himself up. "Aw, hell, the sun's still in bed... Why're we up this early?"
[19:35] The warehouse is easy enough to find, the Guild grounds being very well organized. As per instructions, you enter through the small door marked "Capital Acquisition". The office is rather large and well organized - filing cabinets and bookshelves line the far wall, while numerous crates marked "Valuable!" and "Fragile!" are stacked near the double doors that open into the main work area.
[19:35] ((That cut off I bet))
[19:35] ...time is relative. It is early here, and yet deepest night elsewhere...
[19:35] Remember the mountain?
[19:35] * Zowar . o O (Ended at main work area.)
[19:36] ((Nope.))
[19:36] ((Wow, it didn't cut off))
[19:36] "Because it is our job," the Mithra answers evenly before placing a hand on the door into the warehouse.
[19:36] That deathtrap? *shudder*
[19:37] Valuable I like, Fragile I don't.
[19:37] Same here.
[19:37] "I've had bad experience with explosive material."
[19:37] +s
[19:37] * Zowar looks around. Hmm. Been a while since last seeing one of THOSE...
[19:38] The only pieces of furniture in the room are a desk and some chairs, placed out of the draft of the doors. A large bespectacled man behind the desk looks up at you, and with a warm smile gets up to greet you. "Ah, welcome! You must be the adventurers I requested! Come in, come in! Please, sit yerselves down!"
[19:38] * Hal leans against a checks... he hears a small tinkling sound and stands up. 1"So anyway."
[19:38] *chest
[19:38] * Zowar limps over to the chairs, and seats himself.
[19:38] * Mogel scurries in and grabs a seat in the front
[19:39] * Misato makes her way towards the man's direction, bows politely in greeting, but remains standing.
[19:39] * Rasputin adjusts his greatsword as he sits down.
[19:39] * EK|Christopher helps himself to a chair, visibly trying to not fall asleep in it.
[19:39] Once settled, the man gets down to business. "As I'm sure you've noticed, trade's been dreadfully slow lately. Hardly any ships come upriver from Sol, and airship traffic's been just as slow. And with the death of those bankers in the airship crash, money's tight too. Been having a hard time keeping up with the current stocks, let alone dreaming up brand new things for you outgoing types! That's why you're here - to help restock the sh
[19:39] (restock the sh)
[19:39] restock the sh-
[19:40] restock the shelves!"
[19:40] * Rasputin looks visibly embarrassed.
[19:40] ((d'oh))
[19:40] "Hmm, new supplies eh?"
[19:40] * Zowar nods. "What objects are we to seek out for this mission?"
[19:40] * Misato looks vaguely surprised at the mention of airships crashing. She'd only seen the vaguest of notes about it on the Guild boards...
[19:41] * EK|Christopher looks up at that. "If you wanted weapons you could've asked. Hasani Armory & Cutlery ring any bells?"
[19:41] "an airship crashed? when did that happen?"
[19:41] 6* The man looks at Zowar...
[19:41] "All sorts of things! I need the basics of our standard wares - metals, woods, clays, that sort of stuff. I need herbs and barks and extracts and such for potions. I could use some animal parts - pelts, horns, claws, whatnot. And of course, the truly valuable stuff that holds incredible power - the kind of power that can make a truly exceptional piece of gear!"
[19:41] So, in short, some of everything.
[19:42] A little of everything, just my style.
[19:42] "We're not the armory, boy," he says to Chris. "Here we make weapons, not buy them."
[19:42] "An airship crashed into Cassin Keep last week," he says to Hal. "Awful mess that was."
[19:42] I think I'll take that as a 'yes'...
[19:42] * Rasputin somehow manages to look more embarassed.
[19:42] "Oh... so thats why everyone left the casino that night..."
[19:43] * Zowar ponders. Interesting that an airship would just happen to fail at the right time to hit the keep...perhaps there is foul play at work. Or perhaps it was merely fickle fate. Who can tell?
[19:44] ((Any more questions?))
[19:44] "Is there anywhere in particular we should seek out these items you desire?"
[19:45] ... so what are we being hired for? just to go around trading? going in for *ahem* Aquisitions? searching ruins?
[19:45] 6* The man gives the group a quick glance, to assess their strength.
[19:46] "Hmmmm, you're not newbies but you're not pros yet either. I know where I'm gonna send ya."
[19:46] * Rasputin stops inspecting his shoes, "Where?"
[19:46] * Hal mutters "Please don't say Moril, Please don't say Moril"
[19:46] * Zowar . o O ( Moril!)
[19:47] "Trading won't get you very far. I could do that myself. I'm sending you south, to a small village just outside of Sol. The people there can help you acquire some items for me."
[19:47] "I hope you kids like the ocean!"
[19:47] * Misato nods at the first statement before *blanching* at the second.
[19:47] * EK|Christopher looks up again, having almost nodded off. "...Shit."
[19:47] ...
[19:48] The ocean! I love the ocean! Mainly 'cause I haven't been sailing in a while.
[19:48] "Sounds fun."
[19:48] ((GJ on choice of location, Blair. ^^))
[19:48] * Misato grits her teeth. "I... will learn to, I am sure." Not bloody likely.
[19:48] "Well, this won't be a typical ocean adventure... well, you'll see."
[19:49] * Zowar sighs quietly. Circumstances could be worse.
[19:49] * Rasputin thinks to himself, "at least we're not riding another airship."
[19:49] "Anyway, here's a sheet with the items I need." He hands each of the PCs a sheet of paper. "Head to the library before you leave, for maps and info and whatnot."
[19:49] (woo! maps!)
[19:50] * Zowar nods, and examines his sheet of paper.
[19:50] * Misato takes the paper, looking it over with a furrowed brown.
[19:50] -n
[19:50] "You can easily have this done within the day - that's why I called you down so early."
[19:50] At least there's a reason... I guess.
[19:50] "OH! Before I forget!" The man shuffles over to a box and starts rifling through it.
[19:50] Well, let's go then!
[19:51] * Mogel screeches to a halt.
[19:51] The man pulls out what appears to be a very plain box.
[19:51] * EK|Christopher hasn't gotten up yet, so he's just fine with waiting a bit.
[19:51] * Misato looks up at the exclamation from the man.
[19:51] "What's this?"
[19:51] "This is a Deluxe Refinement Kit. With it even an idiot could poach a monster for its unique bits."
[19:52] * EK|Christopher lights up at that. "Well, that's worth waking up for!"
[19:52] "Cool! It sounds like it'll be really handy for this mission."
[19:52] That should be useful.
[19:52] "You can use it on all sorts of things - trees, animals, monsters, machina, whatever."
[19:52] "These kits are very valuable, so I can only give you one. Don't lose it! If I don't get that kit back when you return, you can kiss your payment for this mission - and many other missions - goodbye!"
[19:52] "Poaching, fun fun!"
[19:53] ((I'll take it seeing how I lack Poach. :D))
[19:53] (( Bah!))
[19:53] "Indeed. I imagine it will be invaluable for acquisition." She pauses, a flicker of a smirk darting across her face at the threat. "We shall look after it with care, sir."
[19:53] * GM_Vittles hands it to Rasputin, as he's sitting closest to the box it was in.
[19:54] ((The man hands it over, not the GM... :p))
[19:54] ((We get the point.))
[19:54] * Rasputin puts the box in his pack.
[19:55] (Do we get one for each PC, or one for the group?)
[19:55] "Alright then, that's all I have for now. Better get a start! The info is on reserve in the library, and some merchants may even have maps you could keep."
[19:55] ((One for the group. It's all you'll need))
[19:55] (Ah, good.)
[19:56] Ok, let's get that stuff and go.
[19:56] 6* The man shoos them out the door, then turns and heads down the street towards another warehouse.
[19:56] He's in a hurry...
[19:56] "I guess he has things to do. And so do we."
[19:56] * Misato bows to the man as she departs, peering down at the list again. "If his product is in a decline as much as he has said, I would imagine he would be."
[19:57] I guess we do; so let's go.
[19:57] 6* As you scan the list, you see the following items that pertain to your mission:
[19:57] * Misato nods at Rasputin. "An excursion into the bookstacks. Knowledge is the weapon of choice, it seems."
[19:57] ((This will take a bit of C&P - bear with me))
[19:57] Coral Fragments - Very useful for making weapons and armors for tackling aquatic beasties. Coral can be easily harvested off the southern coast. Watch out for Coral Eaters!
[19:58] Fish Scales - All sorts of uses! Best source is the waters 'round the southern port of Sol, but watch your backs! Not all sea captains be trustworthy. In fact, you may be better off avoiding the port city completely.
[19:58] "What's a coral eater?"
[19:58] Blind Powder - You can guess the use, but your guess for the location is wrong. The powder is extracted from the ink pouches of certain aquatic fiends.
[19:58] Mystery Fluid - If I told you why I wanted it, there'd be no mystery! I will give a hint about finding it though - look for weird monsters.
[19:58] "I confess I do not know. My immediate reply would be something that eats coral," she notes, looking amused.
[19:58] Steel Orbs and Pipes - Some machina monsters have been seen roaming the countryside, and I'd love to get me hands on these key components.
[19:58] Yeah, probably...
[19:59] Hypello Essence - Certain beasties have something in their bodies which sends the mind into a frenzy. The most common kinds are large or armored creatures - whales in the ocean, some lizards in the forests, perhaps even some of the more vicious things in the mountains.
[19:59] Hmm...
[19:59] Machina... beautiful things... If only I could figure out how to make one for gambling...
[19:59] "Wow, this is a lot of stuff."
[19:59] * Misato wrinkles her nose. There's a lot of... water mentioned.
[19:59] Fine Sand - Local sand is coarse, but the southern islands have sand that be quite fine! A nice shipment for glasswares would be well accepted.
[19:59] Various Herbs and Plants - So many plants with so many uses! No matter where you go, you'll find a plant I can use. Though some be more valuable than others.
[19:59] Assorted Minerals - Be it metals or gems or whatever, if it's special I can use it for something.
[19:59] ((Sorry for so many items, but the man is in need. :p))
[20:00] * EK|Christopher notes that last entry. "Ah, great, things that can eat us alive. Perfect."
[20:00] * Zowar notes the bit about sea captains.
[20:00] ((I'm not complaining)).
[20:00] (*er, not that last. The one with the big armored things.)
[20:00] ((No problem. I like world details))
[20:00] (Aye.)
[20:00] (I don't mind.)
[20:00] ...if we do end up hiring a boat, avoid Captain J. Daniels at all costs. He is not to be trusted.
[20:00] * Misato narrows her eyes. "I concur."
[20:01] "This is going to be a long mission."
[20:01] * Zowar rubs his shoulder. Bullet wounds can be a pain.
[20:01] * Misato eyes Zowar askance. She still has a lot of questions for the old fellow... but they'll have to wait until later.
[20:02] "It will be longer if we do not take ourselves off to read up. Shall we?"
[20:02] * Rasputin nods
[20:02] ((You're free to go shopping now if you need to, as well as check out the library if you wish. Or you could head straight out of town.))
[20:02] Yeah... The sooner we start, the sooner we're done with the boat ride...
[20:02] * Misato 's left eye twitches at the mention of boats.
[20:02] "We need to check with the library first, though."
[20:02] Hmm. Perhaps I should go get a good map of the area...
[20:03] Let us check out the library, but quickly
[20:03] Very well. To the library.
[20:04] * EK|Christopher follows the other on their way to the Library. Hurrah for research!
[20:04] 6* The party makes its way to the Guild library, easily led there by Zowar. Inside they quickly find the books they need in the R&D Reserved section.
[20:04] There's a map of Halmaron with a highlighted route leading south to the fishing village.
[20:05] * SSFSX17[EVNova] is now known as SSFSX17[Dinnering]
[20:05] There's another sketchy map of sorts - what it could be is anyone's guess.
[20:05] Hmmm, let me keep ahold of those please.
[20:05] And a book about aquatic life in the oceans of Halmaron.
[20:05] * Hal looks to cross reference his knowledge of Machina with the technical specs. To find out which machina we'd have the best chance of salvaging intact steel orbs and steel pipes.
[20:05] * Zowar briefly looks for more information on Blind Powder,
[20:05] Hmm. That should be useful.
[20:06] * Zowar looks for the librarian, to ask about borrowing the book on aquatic life.
[20:06] Mogel - you can't take reserved material from the library. You can buy a copy from the librarian though.
[20:06] * Misato picks up the book on aquatic life, thumbing through it. Just *seeing* what's waiting in the deeps is enough to make her shudder and quickly set it back down again.
[20:06] * EK|Christopher checks around for a book on those big, nasty armored types the list had on it.
[20:06] How much are the maps?
[20:06] * Zowar presumably finds out that it can be bought, and inquires about the price.
[20:06] ((Maps are 10 Gil each))
[20:07] I'll take a copy of both of the maps then, please.
[20:07] * Rasputin wonders what a Coral Eater is.
[20:08] * Hal looks for every machina book he can find... He's just anxious for the Machina Maelstrom expansion for Triple Triad to be released.
[20:08] * Misato studies the map of the route to the village thoughtfully.
[20:08] * Rasputin tries finding a book about it, but is sidetracked upon finding an interesting story about the legendary sword Excalibur.
[20:09] The librarian hands two maps to Mogel and takes 20 gil.
[20:10] Thank you very much.
[20:10] * Zowar purchases a copy of the book on Aquatic Life.
[20:11] The librarian hands over the book and takes 25 gil
[20:11] (We can buy books, too?)
[20:11] * Zowar briefly skims it to make sure it has tips on defending one's self against said aquatic life.
[20:11] ((Well, this book isn't very rare so they have many copies))
[20:12] The librarian hands Hal a copy of a recent newspaper with articles about machina, and takes 5 gil as payment
[20:13] ((Anyone else have specific questions?))
[20:14] * EK|Christopher wanders up to the librarian's counter, and asks if they have anythign on the monsters with the 'Hypello Essence'.
[20:14] * Zowar taps Christopher on the shoulder.
[20:14] * EK|Christopher turns around. "Yeah?"
[20:14] I think that may be covered in this book. *turns to the chapter on whales*
[20:14] Ah... *to librarian* Nevermind, then, and thanks anyhow.
[20:15] 6* The librarian nods and goes back to her paperwork.
[20:16] You all need anything else?
[20:16] * Rasputin puts the book away.
[20:16] I've got my Item. (Rolled Up newspaper 1 x Str + 1d6 ^^)
[20:16] I'm ready to go... I guess.
[20:17] * Zowar quickly makes a mental note of where he was in the Philosophy section earlier, then nods.
[20:17] * Misato shakes her head. "I believe I am ready."
[20:17] I'm ready and willing.
[20:17] I would like to stop by the market, if possible. I need to pick up a few items.
[20:17] (( Maps, 50% COS to cause Papercut (4)
[20:17] 6* The party leaves the library and heads towards the south gate, passing through the south market on the way.
[20:18] ((What are you buying?))
[20:19] Hall looks for a Light Curtain... they make nice blankets...
[20:19] 6* The potion lady hands Zowar his Tinctures and takes his gil with a smile.
[20:19] -l
[20:19] (I'll take two Potions, I think.)
[20:19] * Zowar looks briefly at the armors, but decides that now is not the time.
[20:19] * Zowar thanks the lady.
[20:19] The potion lady hands Misato two potions and accepts 100 gil.
[20:19] ((Hal - roll 1d100))
[20:20] !roll 1d100
[20:20] Hal - 1d100: 100 ( Total: 100 )
[20:20] reroll!
[20:20] * Misato bows politely to the lady as she tucks the potions away safely. "Better to have and not need, than to need and not have."
[20:20] * EK|Christopher counts his Gil. *sigh* "My wallet just has an infinite hole in it somewhere - I just have to find it..."
[20:20] !roll 1d100
[20:20] Hal - 1d100: 12 ( Total: 12 )
[20:21] * Rasputin wonders if his 5 potions are enough for this mission.
[20:21] ((2 rerolls left))
[20:21] Hal searches for a while, not even finding a Tonic salesman. Then he trips on a stray cat and falls through a door... into a specialty shop.
[20:22] "Light Curtain you say?"
[20:22] "Those are pretty rare, let me check out back."
[20:22] !roll 1d100
[20:22] GM_Vittles - 1d100: 43 ( Total: 43 )
[20:22] "Yes please. I've heard they are woven from the finest Cassian silk.
[20:23] "Well, I found one... it's my last one though. And with all the trouble, it's hard to get more. You'll have to pay extra for this..."
[20:24] How much?
[20:24] "I could probably let it go for 400 gil."
[20:24] Hmm... a tough price... but I'll take it.
[20:25] Unless... You'd care to make a wadger?
[20:25] "Ummm, no I wouldn't. This is a business, not a casino."
[20:26] "ahh well... your loss"
[20:26] * GM_Vittles puts it back.
[20:27] "It'll be here later if you want it. Business is slow lately."
[20:27] * Hal takes his new light curtain. Hands over the last of his gil.
[20:27] ((Oh, you bought it))
[20:27] ((Ignore what I said. :p))
[20:27] "Hey. I never said I didn't want it. I just said that gambling is fun."
[20:27] "Oh, in that case here you go."
[20:28] ((Anyone else need anything?))
[20:28] * Rasputin hmms
[20:28] ((Nah.))
[20:28] (I'm set, poor, and ready. Did I mention poor?)
[20:28] (I'm done.)
[20:28] * Zowar . o O (I *could* blow most of my Gil on a single Elemental Gem, and completely annihilate a single battle with a MT -ga power.)
[20:29] * Zowar . o O (Except for the low availability.)
[20:29] ((You won't find one. Trust me))
[20:29] Kupo, let's go!
[20:29] 6* After weaving through the market and the slums, you're on the Sol Road. It's fairly well traveled, though somewhat empty this early in the morning.
[20:30] (one sec, I'll be right back.)
[20:30] 6* The sun is now fully risen however, and it's shaping up to be a tad warmer than the last few days have been.
[20:31] * Misato walks along with her helmet pushed back slightly on her head, to try and keep from being parbroiled in her armor.
[20:31] (Back.)
[20:31] !roll 1d100
[20:31] GM_Vittles - 1d100: 97 ( Total: 97 )
[20:31] Everyone who has it, roll Awareness
[20:31] ( O_o )
[20:31] * Silphion has joined #generica

[20:31] !roll 1d100
[20:31] Mogel - 1d100: 78 ( Total: 78 )
[20:31] (Ain't got it. Roll anyhow?)

[20:31] Zowar - 1d100: 67 ( Total: 67 )
[20:32] * Metzgirl has left #generica
[20:32] ((no, Misato has succeeded well enough for everyone))
[20:32] * Zowar . o O (Given that my default isn't that high, no dice.)
[20:32] (Muah.)
[20:32] ((Argh)).
[20:32] (YAY Misato!)
[20:32] !roll 1d100
[20:32] Hal - 1d100: 27 ( Total: 27 )
[20:33] Thanks to her raised helmet, Misato spots the strange mechanical creatures hiding beside the road ahead.
[20:33] They have yet to spot the party.
[20:33] * Misato squints at the machina before she whips out her sheathed katana to bar people from walking further ahead. She motions for silence, rather urgently.
[20:34] * EK|Christopher stops and shuts up.
[20:34] * Zowar nods, and stops walking.
[20:34] * Misato makes a few gestures, indicating the direction of the waiting mecha-critters.
[20:34] * Hal tries to find out what type of machina they are.... (using Sensor feature of his cards)
[20:35] * Mogel peers around the legs of others, straining to see what the fuss is about.
[20:35] * EK|Christopher nods, and his hands idly wander over to his sword hilts...
[20:35] Hal can't see them very well, as they're hiding in the bushes. He'll have to get closer.
[20:35] * Rasputin wonders if we can get some of the stuff for the list.

[20:35] * Zowar ponders. They seem almost familiar...hmm....
[20:35] * Zowar . o O (That would be making a noise.)
[20:35] (Hm, point.)
[20:36] Hal does, however, remember reading about machina scouters in his newspaper.
[20:36] * Misato ponders a moment, considering the pros and cons of flanking them and launching a surprise attack.

[20:43] Get them before they strike first.
[20:44] * Mogel draws his sword, ready for action.
[20:44] * EK|Christopher slowly draws his two blades, trying not to alert them any more than they are all ready.

[21:29] "Thank you, Zowar," the samurai comments to the white mage, bowing slightly and offering the tiniest of smiles - the most she ever seems to do. She then crosses to the piles of scrap, and reaches for the Graviball. "Are there any objections if I were to pick this up?" she asks the group, toying with the small orb.
[21:29] (drat)
[21:29] Go for it.
[21:29] "Fine by me."

[21:32] (What's my HP?)
[21:32] * Misato quietly pockets the Graviball, but not before admiring it a moment longer. It *is* kind of neat to look at.
[21:32] ((Chris: 59/68))
[21:32] "No problem."
[21:32] (Bah, I'm fine for now.)
[21:32] It's midday by the time you reach the village's edge. It has all the quaint charm of a tiny fishing village, though the houses and roads hint towards a wealth that a small village should not possess. From the village entrance there is a large sign and detailed map pointing to your destination - "Come Sail Away" Undersea Adventure Company.
[21:33] (TOURIST TRAP!)
[21:33] * EK|Christopher groans. "Joy; we're here."
[21:33] * Misato grimaces briefly. "Indeed."
[21:33] After a short walk down the village's main street, you come to the well maintained wharf used by the fishermen and the tour ship. A tall, skinny man in his mid-twenties, with wispy red hair and a bit of a babyface, is waiting by the "Come Sail Away" ticket booth. "Uhhh, hey there. You look like adventurers. Are you here to come sail away with me and my fine touring company?"
[21:33] * Silphion is now known as Sil[Anime]

[21:34] "Uhhhh... in the ocean probably."
[21:35] * Misato facepalms.
[21:35] His eyes show that there isn't very much in his head.
[21:35] "That sounds about right. But I figured since you lived here, you might know where to find some."
[21:35] "The Come Sail Away Undersea Adventure Company charters boats out onto the open sea, allowing adventurers to dive into the depths and explore the mysteries of the ocean floor. Though most people just go looking for sunken treasure."
[21:35] "Maybe a Coral Fragment is a treasure."
[21:36] * Demonic_Gerbil is now known as Demonic_SoapOpera
[21:36] Well, it probably won't just be lying around, waiting for us to pick it up...
[21:36] * Misato hrms. "This may be adequate for our needs; perhaps we may be able to collect two of the items on our list." She shivers slightly. "Diving to the depths..."
[21:36] Well, we should head out, I'd rather not be on the ocean after dark.
[21:37] "Don't worry about the diving part - we have Guild certified Time Mages that can make you breathe underwater."
[21:37] "I tried it once, it was pretty cool."
[21:37] * Misato flattens her ears, struggling not to look too anxious. "Indeed. That is... that is something." She doesn't sound too reassured, though.
[21:38] I think I may have heard of that spell...
[21:38] "Anyway..."
[21:38] "The basic fee for any charter trip is 50 gil per person for a half day's trip. Had you arranged a charter ahead of time, you could have gotten a group rate - keep this in mind for future visits. That cost includes the crew and some support in case of attack by sea creatures. But that's rare so don't sweat it."
[21:38] Yeah... I've heard it's basic stuff, but I've never gotten the hang of it. *shrug*
[21:38] "Well. We need to get some Coral Fragments. This sounds like it's the only way to do it...."
[21:38] Does it merely allow one to breathe water, or does it create a sort of air bubble around the target?
[21:38] The kid sounds like he's reciting a company handout.
[21:39] "Ummm... it just lets you breathe under the water. As if you... weren't under the water."
[21:39] Well gang, that looks like our best bet for getting some of those items on the list. I'm all for it.
[21:39] Can we get a discount as we're our own backup?
[21:40] and we want to find the sea creatures...
[21:40] "Ummm... I'm not authorized to change the fees."
[21:40] Who is?
[21:40] "The manager, and he told me on the first day that we don't change the fees."
[21:41] "50G isn't so bad."
[21:41] Yes Hal, give it up, and DON'T offer to wager for it.
[21:41] can half of use be hired as part time back up in case the others get attacked by sea monsters?
[21:41] * Misato ponders paying someone *else's* way, if it means she can stay on dry land.
[21:42] -e
[21:42] "You'll have to talk to the manager about applying for a job... though we don't usually hire adventurers."
[21:43] Aw... what the hell... they might have some blue magic down there..
[21:43] The boy just stares blankly, waiting for a response he understands.
[21:43] * Zowar starts to dig for his Gil.
[21:43] "Let's just shell out the money & get this over with."
[21:43] *sigh* So much for a deal...
[21:43] * Rasputin hands over 50G.
[21:43] * Hal hands over 50 Gil.
[21:44] * Mogel flips 50 gil to him.
[21:44] * EK|Christopher digs around his pockets for the cash, and having found the 50 Gil, hands it over.
[21:44] * Misato stifles a whimper, but then sets her jaw. She's the only female on this adventure, and gosh darnit she's not going to give up without a fight! Hopefully. She hands over her 50 gil with a shaking hand.
[21:44] * Zowar hands over 50 Gil.
[21:45] The boy takes the gil and points towards a boat at the end of the wharf.
[21:45] * Rasputin notes Misato's unease, but doesn't say anything.
[21:45] "Oh, I almost forgot - you'll have to pay more gil to get any large cargo or salvage hauled back with you. You may even need to hand over a percentage of the salvaged goods. Work that out with the crew, as the money goes directly to them."
[21:45] "...."
[21:45] At least we can shave off a little cost somewhere...
[21:45] Again, he sounds like he's reading from a sheet rather than talking.
[21:46] * Hal ponders finding that sheet and editing it "You have to pay 50 % of all earnings to a Mr. Hal Dyson"
[21:46] * Zowar . o O (Heh.)
[21:46] "Thank you for choosing to come sail away, come sail away, come sail away with me and the Come Sail Away Undersea Adventure Company."
[21:46] * Rasputin does not look exactly happy, but then the Coral fragments shouldn't be so big that it requires us to haul them up once we find them."
[21:47] * Mogel thinks that weirdo has Sticks in his head.
[21:47] (Styx.)
[21:47] ((And Cartman. :p))
[21:47] (I'm putting that song on now, dammit.)
[21:47] (That popped into my head first.)
[21:47] The boy busies himself with some paperwork as you head down the wharf.
[21:48] (I know it's Styx, check #returners)
[21:48] *sigh* Here we go...
[21:48] (hey, they are fragments... we can just break them into smaller pieces and they'll still be fragments)
[21:49] You greet the sailors as you board the ship. The direct you to the seating area, and depart once you're settled.
[21:49] Ok, no one get sick.
[21:49] * Misato looks like she's heading to be executed as she walks down the wharf, her steps getting slower as they go, expression grim.
[21:50] * Zowar limps on board. Maybe things will be better once we're in the water.
[21:50] * EK|Christopher looks up - no good, the clouds rock with the sea. He tries down - but he can still feel the waves. He closes his eyes - It'll have to do.
[21:50] * Misato gets on board and promptly curls up in a corner behind a few barrels to be sick in private.
[21:50] ((Talk amongst yourselves for a moment. The board ride is an uneventful hour of sailing, and I'm going to the bathroom))
[21:50] * Mogel cheerfully hops on board.
[21:51] * Mogel produces a paper cup from his pocket, unfolds it, and presents it to Misato.
[21:51] "If you've gotta spew, spew into this."
[21:51] * Rasputin doesn't look much more comfortable than Misato. "At least it's not another Airship..."
[21:51] * Misato hisses weakly at Mogel, looks sulky, and then takes the cup with a curt nod. "Thank you."
[21:51] * EK|Christopher breaths slowly and deeply, holding onto the sides of the boat. "Stay, breakfast... stay..."
[21:52] Come on, it's fun! Don't you all like to do different things every once in a while?
[21:52] * Zowar is seated near the centre of the boat. Keep centred...keep centred...
[21:52] * Hal considers putting them to sleep until we get there...
[21:52] (Everyone else: "NO.")
[21:52] "If it involves water, no. I despite water travel."
[21:52] * Misato hiccups threateningly, but manages to quell the rising waves of bile.
[21:53] * EK|Christopher nods rapidly at Misato's comment, and keeps trying to hold down his stomach. His stomach, on the other hand...
[21:54] * Mogel sighs, takes a deep breath of the sea air, and tries to find a spot that wouldn't be in the range of projectile vomiting.
[21:55] After about an hour of sailing, the boat slows to a stop and the crew lowers the anchor. You walk to the back of the ship where an older man who is obviously a Time Mage waits. "Hello! I am Cesar, your wonderful diving coach!" He chuckles a moment, then coughs and carries on.
[21:55] * Zowar nods.
[21:55] * EK|Christopher wobbles as the sea air pushes him around like a little doll. "Oh boy..."
[21:56] * Misato looks positively stricken. "... diving."
[21:56] * Teucer[Socializing] is now known as Teucer
[21:56] "I'll cast a spell on all of you that lets you breathe underwater for the next half hour. You can freely explore the ocean floor, searching for treasures or adventures or whatever you came here to find. If you find anything big, we'll gladly salvage it for you... for a price."
[21:56] Cesar notices the sickly look on some of the faces.
[21:57] * Hal looks grumpy at the salvage fea.
[21:57] *fee
[21:57] * Rasputin grimaces at the idea of how much the hauling price will be.
[21:57] "Do not worry, my friends! Walking on the ocean floor is like walking on dry land! Your seasickness will disappear!"
[21:57] "Awesome. Let's go. Now."
[21:57] * Zowar nods, having expected as much.
[21:57] * Mogel laughs at the others.
[21:58] "Watch the time and be back at the Dive Zone within 30 minutes. If the spell runs out you'll have to swim back, and swimming in these waters leaves you open to attack. Here, I'll give you this Magic Sandglass to keep track of your remaining time."
[21:58] Perfect. Cast the spell and we'll- *wobble* - we'll go.
[21:58] * Misato doesn't believe it, but she has little choice. She forces herself to stand, but not before sparing a FILTHY look at Mogel for being laughed at.
[21:58] * Rasputin gets up a little too fast and the resulting stomach cramp bring him back to his knees.
[21:58] Cesar hands the sandglass to the nearest party member.
[21:59] (Someone NOT sick, please.)
[21:59] * Zowar . o O (We'll be fine once underwater.)
[21:59] * Misato is not the best person to be holding anything, obviously. She can barely stand upright without her knees buckling.
[21:59] He then stands back and begins waving his hands, and a mysterious glow envelopes the party.
[21:59] * Zowar takes the hourglass.
[21:59] "That's it! Now jump in and explore!"
[22:00] * Zowar . o O (Since no one else volunteered.)
[22:00] (Most of us can't stand.)
[22:00] * Mogel dives in.
[22:00] * Misato pauses at the edge of the boat. "Jump in." And she freezes.
[22:00] !roll 1d100
[22:00] Misato - 1d100: 94 ( Total: 94 )
[22:00] * Rasputin , eager to get off the boat, happily goes in first.
[22:00] (HAHAHA.)
[22:00] * Zowar . o O (Oi.)
[22:00] (Phobia: Water.)
[22:01] (Joy.)
[22:01] * Hal pushes Misato into the water.
[22:01] * Zowar slowly heads to the edge of the boat, and turns to Misato. "To overcome one's fears, one must overcome them.
[22:01] * Zowar . o O (Curse you, Hal.)
[22:01] * Zowar . o O (*I* was going to do that.)
[22:01] "I understand that," the samurai starts to tell Zowar before she's SHOVED into the water. She lets out a blood-curdling shriek of horror and flails around before she hits the water with a *splash*.
[22:01] (I'm just more direct.)
[22:01] * Zowar . o O (And I messed up the quote. Oh well.)
[22:01] * EK|Christopher jumps in, hoping that Cesar was right.
[22:01] * Zowar sighs, and jumps in...
[22:01] * Hal shoves Zowar into the water while he's whining.

[22:02] * Zowar . o O (Just checking to make sure I don't trip or something.)
[22:02] * Zowar . o O (Yes, that's the general idea.)
[22:02] (He reminds me of Gandalf...)
[22:02] ((You must overcome your fears, or your fears will overcome you))
[22:02] * Zowar . o O (Heh. I meant to type 'face them', but my mind wandered.)
[22:03] * Zowar . o O (Again. Anyway. Hal's pushing people off the boat left and right.)
[22:03] * Misato is only partially relieved to find herself not dead, and that's quickly replaced by frightened fury. She is totally going to kick the living shit out of Hal when she gets back on dry land.
[22:03] * Zowar . o O (Though I think I jumped first. Yay me.)
[22:03] Once in the water, you all find it very easy to dive. It's as if the weight of the water - or the lack of air - aren't a concern. You quickly descend to the seafloor.
[22:03] * Hal sighs and pushes himself into the water.
[22:03] ((I jumped first.))
[22:03] * Zowar . o O (I meant I jumped before Hal pushed me in.)
[22:03] (( I jumped first.))
[22:04] (as did I.)
[22:04] * Zowar looks around while descending.
[22:04] * Misato isn't seasick, but she's bloody scared. "So.. much.. water.."
[22:04] Misato: Just think of it... as wet air...
[22:04] My notes indicate that Giant Squids are the best source for Blind Powder, so keep an eye out.
[22:04] As you settle to the bottom, you're amazed by the splendor of the deep. The clear waters cast a deep blue hue across everything - rocks, sand, fish, seaweed, everything you can see. A small school of fish rush past you, oblivious to your presence. The water is fairly cool this deep, untouched by direct sunlight.
[22:04] "You have helped ENOUGH, thank you," she growls softly at Hal.
[22:05] * Rasputin looks around for Coral.
[22:05] Mogel, roll 1d100
[22:05] "This is neat."

[22:05] My pleasure Misato... Now... care for some help out of those wet cloths?
[22:05] drat.
[22:05] Zowar - the sand is far too coarse.
[22:05] (^_^)
[22:06] * Zowar . o O (Thought so. And I'm tempted to hit Hal for that.)
[22:06] ...
[22:06] * Hal gets ready to run from the Samurai...
[22:06] Hmm...that weird map looks a lot like the floor down here.
[22:06] One should avoid antagonizing one's allies if one wishes to survive the quest.
[22:07] * Misato shakes with impressive fury, baring teeth... then she closes her eyes, draws a calming breath, and turns away from Hal.
[22:07] * Mogel pulls out the map to show the others.
[22:07] * Zowar takes a look at the map.
[22:07] Hmmm, there's a big reef or something to the north. Perhaps we should head that way.
[22:07] * Misato says something rather crude in Mithran tongue about Hal's parentage before she tries to look at the map. It's not water, at least.
[22:07] * Hal whipes his glasses and takes a glance at the map.
[22:07] Zowar - roll 1d100

[22:09] "We better hurry, though. This spell only lasts 30 minutes."
[22:09] Hmm...
[22:09] Actually, we may have a shot at finding Blind Powder soon.
[22:09] "I am *not* swimming back to shore."
[22:09] "Or anywhere, for that matter."
[22:09] The fish swimming around us...my notes indicate that they are the preferred food of Giant Squid.
[22:09] I'm not ei- Wait, what?
[22:10] ((I'd rather not see how well a fully armored sword master with a 6' long greatsword with no swimming skill can swim.))
[22:10] And Blind Powder is easily harvested from a Giant Squid's ink sacs.
[22:10] (How about a fully armored Samurai with Phobia: Water? :P)
[22:10] Directly north of you, the sea takes on a pale blue-green tint. Slightly west of that, a steady stream of bubbles is rising from beyond your sight. To the northeast, some strange shadows can be seen on the water's surface. Where do you want to investigate (Northwest, North or Northeast)?
[22:10] ((A shame Floria isn't here, she can swim))
[22:10] hmm, squid food? Let's not be squid food ourselves.
[22:10] (Yes, but if she was, I'd be dead right about now.)
[22:11] ((Oh, right))
[22:11] (Misato will probably be so enraged by Hal that she'll ignore swimming penalties and just focus on killing him)
[22:11] * Zowar looks at the three locations. "Perhaps we should examine those bubbles."
[22:11] (No, I'll just kill you in your sleep.)
[22:11] bubbles sound good to me
[22:11] * Misato looks around. It's all water to her. It's all Hell on earth to her. "I have no arguments."
[22:11] * EK|Christopher looks at the older mage. "I'll go with that."
[22:11] * Zowar starts to head Northwest.
[22:11] * Mogel motions to the others to follow Zowar
[22:12] ((MWAHAHAHA))
[22:12] * Hal follows them... keeping his distance from Misato.
[22:12] * Zowar . o O (Let me guess.)
[22:12] (...)
[22:12] ((That cackle scares me.))
[22:12] * Zowar . o O (We just headed for the Boss Battle.)

[22:21] ...
[22:21] * Misato flails like a Mithra possessed to get away from the whirlpool.
[22:21] * Zowar uses his staff to dig into the ground, and makes his way steadily around the whirlpool.
[22:21] You somehow manage to endure the maelstrom and can maneuver about. Will you retreat back to the dive zone or continue to explore the churning waters?
[22:22] * Zowar grounds himself. "Are we to retreat, or to explore this area in the hopes that something is here?"
[22:23] ((OK, this is gonna slow things down))
[22:23] * Hal grabs a rock and clings to it like a Limpit.
[22:23] (Just clone yourself. That'll solve all your problems.)
[22:23] * Misato shivers, eyes wild. "We have lost half of our party!" Her fingers curl around her katana's hilt, trying to ground herself as her eyes squeeze shut.
[22:24] We are merely seperated. Think of it as a whirlwind.
[22:24] We will likely rejoin them in due time. For now, though, should we continue exploring?
[22:25] * Misato stares at Zowar blankly. There is sense in the old mage's words, but... she sighs, and nods weakly. "Very well. I... I will trust you."
[22:26] Hopefully, it is not the wrong decision...*looks around the chaotic area. Anything of note?*
[22:26] ((You're exploring the whirlpool then?))
[22:27] * Zowar . o O (I suppose. Worst that can happen is that we awaken Leviathan and he annihilates us.)

[22:28] (You'd better... I'm not paying some damn salvaging fee for my own corpse!)
[22:29] Diving deeper into the whirlpool reveals the cause of the rather unnatural phenomenon - the most bizzare fish you've ever seen in your life! [23:33] "Where could the whirlpool have taken the others?" she muses, aloud, looking around with a knit brow.
[23:33] ((I have about a thousand gil. I can afford it, technically.))
[23:34] "It's hard to say -- that whirlpool could have flung them anywhere."
[23:35] Hmm...
[23:35] * Misato looks towards the cave, almost with a pained expression. "It is not possible, is it?"
[23:36] ((Cave or back to the dive area? Time is ticking...))
[23:36] ((I guess we could look at the cave.))
[23:36] We might as well explore the cave.
[23:36] * Zowar starts heading north. Slowly.
[23:36] "Yeah, that sounds about right."
[23:36] * Rasputin follows Zowar's lead.
[23:37] * Misato groans. "I was afraid of that." She makes her way after the others.
[23:37] As you emerge from the sediment cloud, you eventually come upon a small island - or more accurately, a small cave at the base of a small island. It's rather small - only a TaruTaru or Moogle would be able to stand at full height.
[23:38] Hmm. So you say the Squid came out of here?
[23:38] * N_X[LostArk] is now known as Newbie_X

[23:38] * Zowar ponders...
[23:38] "It managed to grab me, but I was able to break free from it.
[23:38] * Zowar keeps an eye on the hourglass.
[23:39] The hourglass shows plenty of time left
[23:39] * Zowar has a sudden thought. The fine sand we're looking for is on the southern islands...and this seems to be an island. Might as well look at the sand.
[23:40] "Sounds good."
[23:40] * Rasputin gets out the poaching kit.
[23:40] The sand on the seabed is still not good, but you could probably convince the boat to come here once you surface.
[23:41] * Zowar considers, and tries to look inside the cave entrance.
[23:42] With the Giant Squid dealt with, you're free to explore the tiny cave. Despite the small entrance, it's rather spacious inside - though after seeing the full size of that beast, it's easy to understand. In one corner is a pile of fish skeletons, while in another a pile of gil, small jewels and and some items sparkle in the faint light filtering in.
[23:42] (Oh Stabitha..)
[23:42] * Zowar . o O (Which to check out. Shinies or fish skeletons?)
[23:43] ((SHINIES!))
[23:43] * Misato pokes her head into the cave. She'd feel bad letting Zowar go in alone, so she manages to squeeze herself through the entrance.
[23:43] * Zowar quickly looks at the fish skeletons to see if anything is salvageable from them.
[23:43] * Zowar . o O (And now I'll be considered crazy.)
[23:44] Hmm. Several of us might be needed to move this treasure out...
[23:44] (We all are...)
[23:45] * Hal crawls in to help.
[23:45] "We can just take the good stuff & leave the junk."

[23:45] "Let us take only what is truly necessary."
[23:45] "We cannot afford to load ourselves down."

[23:53] "Let's. Hopefully they are not in trouble..."
[23:54] * Zowar leaves the cave, and looks around. Given our luck so far, signs of a battle might help.
[23:54] After exiting the cave, you're now faced with a decision on where to go. To the south you can see the sediment cloud has finally settled, making for a quick trip back to the dive zone via the whirlpool. A coral reef extends north and east from the small island you're standing below. And looking directly east, you see the seaweed beginning to grow thick...
[23:54] * Rasputin hmms
[23:55] We needed to get coral, right?
[23:55] "Yeah."
[23:55] We might as well complete that errand now.

[23:56] Hmm. We're north of the whirlpool already.

[23:57] It's probably not too likely that the others would be thrown even farther north.
[23:57] So maybe we should head east.
[23:58] "OK. East it is then. How much time do we have left on the hourglass?"
[23:58] * Zowar checks the time.
[23:58] "That sounds reasonable." She swallows slightly, eyeing the undulating seaweed.
[23:58] It appears you've used up almost half your time. You've maybe 16-17 minutes left down here
[23:58] We've used about half of our time.
[23:59] "We're cutting things close... We'll want to to take at least 10 minutes to get back to the boat."
[23:59] Let's go. Once we have the coral, we're missing only the sand, scales, Hypello Essence, and herbs, if I remember the list correctly.
[23:59] * Zowar nods.

[00:03] You follow the growing reef north for a minute or so. Pink and purple and yellow all blend seamlessly along its length, and the sight is only enhanced by the blue-green hue of the water. Small fish dart among the reef all along its length, while crustaceans and seaweeds make their homes in the various openings. Truly this is a marvel of the deep.

[00:07] There are very few truly beautiful sights in this world. I suggest you appreciate them when you have the opportunity. Don't let life pass by in mediocrity and sorrow...
[00:08] * Zowar trails off, and simply takes in the sight.
[00:08] Or as I like to put it *boom!*
[00:08] * Hal watches the coral... nice...
[00:08] "Oh, shut -up-, Hal." The samurai, irritable, turns away to try and appreciate coral. But to her, it's just rock.
[00:09] It's not just rock... It's like a mini-city... all those fish... all those crabs and stuff... amidst towers and castles of coral...
[00:10] "Crabs? Did they say Coral Eaters resemble crabs?
[00:10] +"
[00:10] * Misato .oO(The only fish I like are on my plate.)
[00:10] +n't ((Stupid RTS.))
[00:10] * Zowar ponders...
[00:11] ((Coral Eaters are Giant Crabs, not these tiny ones))
[00:11] * Hal shoves some fish on her armour. "Oh wrong plate."
[00:11] They didn't mention what Coral Eaters looked like on my information sheet...
[00:11] * Misato .oO(When did you become a mind reader?)
[00:11] * Zowar . o O (Just after he became a time bomb.)
[00:12] ((Rasputin specifically looked up Coral Eater info. :p))
[00:12] * Zowar . o O (I went and spent my time looking up Giant Squid info. Sigh.)
[00:15] * Rasputin wonders how much more coral is necessary.
[00:15] ((I haven't forgotten you guys, BTW))
[00:15] ((OK.))
[00:16] (He was just busy with us. Sorry.)
[00:17] Rasputin finally manages to harvest a decent amount of Coral Fragments (5 sacks worth).
[00:18] * Zowar looks over the coral reef once more, fixing the image in his memory.
[00:18] ((whoops... I closed #returners2 too fast. Sorry guys. :p))
[00:18] Just as he's finished, Mogel and Christopher come walking out of the seaweed to the south.
[00:18] Hmm. I wonder if the others are anywhere near here...*looks around*
[00:18] ...
[00:18] Ta-duh!
[00:18] Truly, speak of the devil and he shall appear.
[00:18] * Rasputin hopes somebody else can share carying some of the loot on the way back to the guild.
[00:19] * EK|Christopher walks into view with the corpse of a Red Sahagin on his shoulders. "We've still got that box, right? I'm gettin' kinda tired of carryin dead things around."
[00:19] * Hal picks up the coral fragments.
[00:19] * Zowar checks the time, to be on the safe side.
[00:19] I've got some skeleton parts, as well.
[00:20] ((Is the Red Sahagin the only corpse you dragged along?))
[00:20] (( yeah ))
[00:20] (Mogel's got those Skeleton's bits.)
[00:20] Zowar - at least 2/3rds of the time is gone now.
[00:20] Hmm. We have about ten minutes left. We should probably start to head back...did either of you see anything interesting?
[00:20] "Let's try it out, but we need to get back."
[00:20] Yeah. Yeah, we did.
[00:21] We saw some floating crates, but we couldn't move them.
[00:21] As you look south and west, down the length of the reef, you can see it terminating in a rock formation that appears rather interesting. Due south is the region of thick seaweed. South and east, there seems to be a decayed wooden mass - probably a sunken boat.
[00:21] Right. Let's salvage what we can from the corpses to lighten our load, then get moving.
[00:21] Thanks. The less Sahagin I carry, the better.
[00:22] The kit shows Rasputin that the Bone Fragments are fine on their own. There's enough for 2 sacks.
[00:22] * Zowar . o O (*pokes Rasputin. Your cue, I think.*)
[00:22] ((?))
[00:22] * Zowar . o O (Or not. NM.)
[00:22] The kit also has a very special tool for Red Sahagins, which allows Rasputin to recover another sack of Blind Powder.
[00:23] "Hmm. We're still lacking fish scales."
[00:23] If you really want to, we could go Sahagin-hunting.
[00:23] Strange. Where were the crates?
[00:23] * Misato stares off towards the sunken boat, and frowns slightly. "Perhaps we should have the boat come here for the crates. Salvaging them will be prohibitively expensive, but..." She trails off, shrugging.
[00:24] I'm sure I could kill some fish, but I doubt that they'd be THE fish we need.
[00:24] Were you able to deal with any other monsters while we were seperated?
[00:24] "I'd rather get back to the ship before you all find out how well a fully armored sword master can swim."
[00:24] Hmm... who says we have to do it all in one trip?
[00:24] We handled everything okay.
[00:24] Just the damn Sahagin
[00:24] And the skeletons. But we had a friend take care of them.
[00:24] Yeah, a BIG friend
[00:24] Maybe we should check the Sahagin quickly, then head back to the boat, then....
[00:25] Do we have enough air for all that?
[00:25] * Zowar checks the hourglass.
[00:25] ask for another "burst" of air...
[00:25] "Right. Let's talk later before we get ambushed by Coral Eaters."
[00:25] The sand is still running. Decide quickly.
[00:25] * Zowar . o O (How much time is left?)
[00:25] ((Not much. :p))
[00:25] You all's call.
[00:26] I guess we'll have to do without the fish scales. Let's head back to the boat.
[00:26] ((I'm going back to the boat post-haste.))
[00:26] ((Alone if necessary.))
[00:26] We could split up again. Have some people take what we've all ready got to the boat and get to work on the crates, the others go Sahagin hunting.
[00:26] * Zowar follows Rasputin.
[00:26] * Misato looks positively relieved. "Yes. Let us return to the boat."
[00:26] ((We can get the crates later.))
[00:26] * Mogel follows Rasputin as well.
[00:26] Our time is almost up. Let's go.
[00:26] Boat.
[00:26] Or we can leave, that'll work too.
[00:26] ((I doubt we can get the crates without help from the boat crew.))
[00:27] * Misato is more than happy to follow people back up to the boat.
[00:27] * EK|Christopher follows Rasputin back to the boat, hoping those crates can get salvaged by them.
[00:27] ((What way do you go? Back by the Squid cave? Due south through the seaweed? Or down past the wrecked boat?))
[00:27] (It's never that easy, is it?)
[00:27] * Zowar . o O (Hmm. Which is the most direct?)
[00:27] * Zowar . o O (Wrecked boat? Squid cave?)
[00:28] surface and call them over.
[00:28] * Zowar quickly ponders a route.
[00:28] ((Surfacing anyone besides the dive zone requires significant swimming to return))
[00:28] Let's go past the cave. That route is at least known.
[00:28] ahywhere*
[00:28] Agreed?
[00:28] Fine by me.
[00:29] "Agreed."
[00:29] * Misato nods brusquely.
[00:29] Let's move.
[00:29] * Zowar heads for the cave, watching the timer.
[00:29] * Mogel follows
[00:29] * EK|Christopher heads after Zowar, not really knowing where the cave is.
[00:30] * Zowar heads south past the whirlpool after reaching the cave.
[00:30] * EK|Christopher continues to follow, happy to have that weight off his shoulders.
[00:30] The trip back past the cave in uneventful. At the site of the whirlpool, you see that the sediment has totally settled. It's a very... empty... area.
[00:31] You crest the small hill to the dive zone just as the sandglass begins to glow.
[00:31] You feel the water getting rather... weighty... and it's getting hard to breathe.
[00:31] Up Up Up!
[00:31] Right. Time to surface! *swims up*
[00:31] * EK|Christopher swims up. Boat. NOW.
[00:32] * Misato almost panics, clawing at the water to try and swim. What do you expect from a desert-dweller?
[00:32] You break the surface very close to where you dove in.
[00:32] * Mogel waves to the boat.
[00:32] Cesar is watching the water, and waves when you surface.
[00:33] * Zowar . o O (If the boat left without us I vote we hunt down and kill Captain J. Daniels. <.<)
[00:33] * Zowar . o O (...sure, he's not the captain of this boat. Does that matter?)
[00:33] "Hello my friends! Was your adventure exciting?"
[00:33] (Of course not.)
[00:33] * Misato flails around, trying to keep her head above water.
[00:33] It was...interesting.
[00:33] "Plenty."
[00:33] Yeah. Enough excitement for one day, how about we get dry now?
[00:33] * Zowar climbs up onto the boat, and extends his staff to help Misato out.
[00:34] Cesar casts Float on a flailing Misato and quickly drags her onto the boat. The rest of you climb up the ladder.
[00:34] * Rasputin hauls up the multiples sacks of stuff earned from our underwater adventure.
[00:34] * Misato clutches Zowar's staff - even while she's floated out. She collapses onto the deck, a wet and frazzled mess. "Never... again..."
[00:34] * Hal climbs into the boat and strives to stay as far away from Misato as possible.
[00:34] * Mogel scurries onto the boat.
[00:34] A request or two...to the north of here, a short distance, I think there was a small island. Could we make a brief stop there?
[00:35] "Certainly, my mysterious friend! Though a small payment will be required..."
[00:35] * Misato wrings out her tail irritably, but she hasn't slunk off to her corner, yet.
[00:35] How much payment? *leans on staff*
[00:36] "That depends on how much you want to put on the boat?"
[00:36] -? +.
[00:36] "Let us go and see!"
[00:36] (( Will we be able to get those crates as well? ))
[00:36] ((Ask him. :p))
[00:36] * Zowar . o O (You ask. Zowar doesn't know where they are.)
[00:37] The boat start sailing north, and quickly reaches the small island.
[00:37] ((I'll give you this neat boomerang if you go there!))
[00:37] Cesar, can we pick up these crates that are floating as well?
[00:37] * Zowar steps onto the island, and quickly checks the sand. Is it fine enough?
[00:37] * EK|Christopher sits on the deck, trying to keep still as the boat rocks back and forth... and back... and *urk!*
[00:37] "I don't see anything but sand here, my friend... crates? Oh, certainly! We will get them on the way home."
[00:38] The sand is much finer than anything you've ever seen.
[00:38] Rasputin, could you bring the kit over here?
[00:38] "Sure."
[00:38] * Rasputin tests the sand with the poaching kit.
[00:38] It's the stuff you want.
[00:39] You'll need a crate to carry a decent load... and Cesar happens to have one.
[00:39] * Rasputin wonders how in the world we're supposed to carry all this stuff back to the guild in Halmaron.
[00:39] ((This session is taking soooo long. O_o))
[00:39] * Misato flicks an ear as she curls back up by her barrels, trying to watch over the tops while fighting the twisting in her stomach.
[00:40] ((Must re-evaluate my style))
[00:40] (I kinda like the longer style. Too bad it's long and late, though.)
[00:40] We need a crateful of this sand. Could we purchase that empty crate for this purpose?
[00:40] Well, let's get this sand loaded.
[00:40] ((To be fair, we've been in god only knows how many fights so far. Hell, twice as much as most of the games I've been in.))
[00:41] (I like long and interesting.)
[00:41] ((It's been my most enjoyable session so far.))
[00:41] (Again, I liked it.)
[00:41] "The crate is included in the salvage fee. A mere 25 gil per crate we load, mysterious figure."
[00:41] (Me too.)
[00:41] "We better get paid well for this mission!"
[00:41] "Fine!"
[00:41] * Rasputin grumpily hands Cesar 25G.
[00:41] * Zowar takes a small pouchful of the sand for his own purposes.
[00:41] * Misato notes wearily, "It seems as if we are putting forth a great deal of gil for this. Odd."
[00:42] You load the crate quickly and get it onto the boat. On the way back, Mogel manages to pick out the Guild-marked crates and load them as well... for another 75 gil.
[00:42] * Zowar pays the 75 Gil fee.
[00:42] They probably - *ugh* - Make quite a living off of people like us.
[00:42] You know, I would have paid the fee.
[00:42] * Zowar also divvies the previously found 300 Gil among the party members...meaning that the boat ride itself is paid for.
[00:42] "Well my friends, this *is* a business!"
[00:42] (who wants to play explode the Blue mage in their hold?)
[00:42] "If I was a gambling man, I'd put gil on it."
[00:42] See?
[00:43] * Zowar . o O (So most people break even.)
[00:43] (Once we get the stuff on shore, go nuts, Hal.)
[00:43] ((Much as I would love to see that, I did not plan for an exploding Blue Mage))
[00:43] ((I'd rather not sink the ship while I'm on it.))
[00:43] * Misato groans and sinks back behind the barrels, hiccuping wetly.
[00:43] (Exactly.)
[00:44] Once the salvage is settled, the ship returns to port. You acquire a wagon from a local merchant and transport of the goods is arranged. The sun is just beginning to set as you return to the Capital Acquisition office.
[00:44] ((All blue mages seem to end up getting it. Almost none of them seem to use it... a pity))
[00:44] (( And their ship is Blue Magic proof. Sorry Hal, but they'll just be scraping you off the walls for a couple of weeks.))
[00:44] ((It's a last resort move, really))
[00:44] ((The wagon is on the Guild's tab this time. The marked crates allowed you to get away with it))
[00:44] (With this new Rule of 1 thing, though... Lots of kaboomies!)
[00:45] ((And it's based on the HP you have left.))
[00:45] ((But it works so much better if you use it as a regular move... It's like a massive Minus Strike))
[00:45] ((Well, he also forfeited some/all XP for that fight))
[00:45] ((Yeah.. true... but I got to explode so who cares!))
[00:45] (Indeed.)
[00:45] ((Fair enough))
[00:45] Anyway...
[00:45] * Misato is a very happy samurai to be back on dry land. She does, however, pointedly ignore Hal.
[00:46] * Mogel pats Mistao's back, hoping to console her.
[00:46] Once back at the office, you take the time to sit and relax as the clerk tallies up your payments.
[00:46] "This could take a while, kiddos. So just relax."
[00:46] * EK|Christopher makes a point of relaxing.
[00:46] * Rasputin is happy to do so.
[00:46] Before anything else, the man opens the marked crates.
[00:46] * Misato stands, back straight and expression stoic as she is patted.
[00:47] * Zowar does so, closing his eyes and picturing the coral reef. That sight alone made the trip worthwhile.
[00:47] "AMAZING! You found one of our lost shipments of Iron Ore!"
[00:47] * Mogel does a happy Moogle dance and sings a happy Moogle song.
[00:47] * EK|Christopher smiles at Mogel, still pointedly relaxing.
[00:47] (( And now the iron is all oxidized and useless!))
[00:47] ((These were damn good crates))
[00:48] * Misato winces at the noise from the moogle, but lets it ride.
[00:48] "This stuff is worth something?"
[00:48] "Indeed! Iron Ore is always useful."
[00:48] "And the other things all have their uses."
[00:49] The man holds up a handful of Blind Powder.
[00:49] * Sil[Anime] is now known as Silphion
[00:49] ((Yeah... "Iron Ore" obviously a euphemism))
[00:49] "With this, I managed to develop those Twilight Steels some of you boys are holding. Now they're in mass production!"
[00:49] * Zowar . o O (So what is it really? Melted Excalibur?)
[00:49] "I'm trying all sorts of new things with Blind Powder now, but development takes time."
[00:49] * Misato looks vaguely peeved. She's not a boy. But, she lets that ride, too.
[00:50] * EK|Christopher leans forward at that. "Wow. I remember hearing about that once..."
[00:51] "Hmmm... lessee... for the Iron and the Sand, I'll give some gil. Oh, and for the minerals too."
[00:51] "Oooh, Machina parts!"
[00:51] "Very, very valuable!"
[00:51] * EK|Christopher looks over at Misato at this.
[00:51] * Misato can't help but look a little proud. She sniffs, pleased.
[00:52] "4 orbs and 2 pipes... hmmm, you kids need to decide on what you want."
[00:52] "I can give you three things called Graviballs, two Soldier Helmets, or one suit of sturdy Bronze Armor."
[00:52] I vote for Graviballs.
[00:52] ((Shit, I should recheck the prices on those things))
[00:53] "I already have Bronze Armor. I wouldn't mind a Soldier's helmet".
[00:53] (Soldier Helm is 170, Bronze Armor 675)
[00:53] ((Yeah, I'm keeping away from those kinds of items for now))
[00:53] (Graviballs are 350, I think)
[00:53] ((Shit, not 3 Graviballs then...))
[00:53] (yeah.)
[00:53] "Oh wait, I made a mistake."
[00:53] ...
[00:54] "2 Graviballs"
[00:54] * Zowar . o O ("Wait, the three Graviballs are for someone who brings back a Dragon Tooth.)
[00:54] (Dragon Tooth?)
[00:54] * Zowar . o O (<.<)
[00:54] (3 soldiers helms, 2 graviballs or bronze armour?)
[00:54] (soldier Helms aren't worth it, I think.)
[00:55] ((2 helms))
[00:55] (Even worse.)
[00:55] ((2 Graviballs, 2 Helms, or 1 armor))
[00:55] * Misato bobs her head slightly. "I currently own both helm and armor," she notes, "and one of these... Graviballs. I care not what you decide."
[00:55] (Again, I vote for Graviballs.)
[00:55] Hmm... Lets say the Graviballs.
[00:55] ((Gravisballs.))
[00:55] * Zowar shrugs.
[00:55] (( You like them balls, don't you)
[00:55] (Damn right!)
[00:55] The Graviballs are fine by me.
[00:55] "Seems you kids want the fighting items. Well, here you go."
[00:56] ((*beats Mogel to death with one of the machina parts.*))
[00:56] (Joy! Now who gets what Graviball?)
[00:56] "Hmmm... Mystery Fluid. Not bad. I need to hire you kids again."
[00:56] Heh... Thanks. It was fun, really.
[00:56] ((Let's wait & see what we get.))
[00:57] * Misato flicks an ear. "Hopefully it will not involve water again."
[00:57] "I can't give you anything with this now, but come back later and one of you can buy something neat at a discount."
[00:57] (( Yeah, so much stuff, make a big pile and then divide it up ))
[00:57] (Well, we divided stuff out as we went, right?)
[00:57] * Zowar nods, and keeps that in mind.
[00:57] * EK|Christopher smiles. "Discounts are good."
[00:57] (( somewhat, yes, mainly what we get here))
[00:57] ((OK, much as I like RPing through this I gotta reassess everything. And it's 2 AM))
[00:57] * Zowar . o O (I've got a Snow Robe for whoever wants it, the cave cache balanced out the price of the tickets.)
[00:57] * Misato bobs her head to the man.
[00:58] * Zowar . o O (That's what comes to mind. Anyone want the Snow Robe?)
[00:58] (I'll take it.
[00:58] ((It's crappy LVL 1 armor))
[00:58] * Zowar . o O (Yeah. Level 1 Robes with Ice Ward.)
[00:58] (i'm wearing crappy level 1 armour)
[00:59] ((Floria is still on LVL 1 armor too))
[00:59] * Zowar . o O (Congratulations, here are your new Snow Robes.)
[00:59] ((And if you think this was a lot, you don't know how much you *missed*. :p))
[00:59] (So, we'll come back here in ten or twenty lvels, right?)
[00:59] ((The beauty of timed events is you never have enough time))
[01:00] (*checks list* Only things we missed, by my count, were the Fish Scales, the Hypello Essence, and the random Plants.)
[01:00] ((you guys did remarkably better than I thought. It helped that the split group handled themselves well... and had a mage with Thunder))
[01:00] ((Seaweed = Plants for my purposes))
[01:00] (*clapclap* at Mogel)
[01:00] (and 2 electro marbles)
[01:00] * Zowar . o O (I think we might even have the plants...yeah.)
[01:00] (rawk.)
[01:00] (^_^)
[01:01] AFW to sort this session out
[01:01] (We should name the whale...)
[01:01] * Mogel has a slight wiff of ozone to him, what with all the lightning thrown around
[01:01] *sniffs* That smell is the sweet, sweet smell of sucess.
[01:01] * Hal *really* needs to go get sleep... I'll see you folks later on.
[01:01] * Misato smells like seawater and wet cat.
[01:02] * Hal is now known as Morgan
[01:02] * Morgan has quit IRC (Quit: )
[01:02] * SSFSX17 is now known as FloriaMargarette
[01:02] * EK|Christopher should get going, too. It's 1 AM... What the?
[01:03] I'll post the session results... tomorrow morning probably
[01:03] All right.
[01:03] * EK|Christopher is now known as ElementalKnight
[01:03] * Misato is now known as Sehkmet
[01:03] Cool.
[01:03] ok
[01:03] * Sehkmet will update her sheet then.
[01:03] * Mogel is now known as mattwolfewvu
[01:03] * ElementalKnight hopes he gained a level...
[01:03] Right. Night, all.
[01:03] * ElementalKnight has left #generica
[01:04] night
[01:04] Those monsters were a lot easier than I thought. The bosses I mean, not the cannon fodder
[01:04] Yeah, the increase in XPV/GV of Bosses is overrated.
[01:04] That was fun, Blair. :)
[01:04] Thanks
[01:04] * Rasputin nods
[01:04] * GM_Vittles is now known as Captain_Vittles
[01:04] * Rasputin is now known as Igtenos
[01:04] Thanks for running it.
[01:04] You need to GM more. :D
[01:04] * FloriaMargarette hugs Zowar and realizes he is soaking wet
[01:04] Gotta be more careful with splitting the party though.
[01:05] * Zowar is now known as Gullwhacker
[01:05] OH!
[01:05] Now I remember why the monsters were weaker
[01:05] * FloriaMargarette drags Zowar over to the fireplace and sits next to him
[01:05] Because I fully expected a split party
[01:05] You were expecting level 3?
[01:05] Hee.
[01:05] Aaaah.
[01:05] I just didn't realize how strong some players are even in groups of 2 or 3
[01:05] Well, consider.
[01:06] One group was two Red Mages.
[01:06] The only one with trouble would have been Rasputin. The squid could have kicked his ass.
[01:06] The other had a Swordmaster, a Samurai, a White Mage, and a Bomb.
[01:06] Err, Blue Mage.
[01:06] Whichever.
[01:06] What's the difference? :>
[01:06] ...and I *NEVER* expected him to bust out Self Destruct
[01:06] That was pre' funny.
[01:06] Heh.
[01:07] Isn't that a rule of GMing?
[01:07] I'm giving him an XP bonus just for doing that.
[01:07] The players will ALWAYS do something unexpected.
[01:07] Anyway, must assess results. :p
[01:08] * FloriaMargarette is now known as SSFSX17
[01:08] I would pwned him with time.
[01:08] OK, for the rest of the listed items you gathered:
[01:08] * mattwolfewvu is now known as mattwolfewvu[sleep]
[01:08] It might have took me 10-20 turns, but hey...
[01:09] Bone Fragments get someone a discounted item with an Earth element.
[01:09] * Misato shows up and does a critical hit to speed things up.
[01:09] >_>
[01:09] Coral Fragments have a lot of uses - Electro Marbles, or a Lightning Marble, or Lightning Arrows, or a discounted Lightning item.
